Very low hosting prices are usually recovered somewhere else. The most common places are these.
- Ownership. Domains registered in the provider’s name, so leaving means negotiating.
- Release fees. Charges to export your data or to obtain a transfer code.
- Overcrowding. Hundreds of accounts on an underpowered server, and your site slows when theirs is busy.
- Neglect. Unpatched software, and backups that turn out not to exist.
For an organisation whose reputation depends on being reachable and trustworthy, these costs are far larger than the saving. Our plans are priced to avoid every one of them; see our custodial standard.
